Ames History Museum Mural

This conceptual mural project was designed for the Ames History Museum as a way to visually celebrate the city’s rich cultural heritage. Imagined as a large-scale mural on the exterior of the building, the design highlights the historical figures, events, and landmarks that have helped shape the Ames community. I created a retro-styled illustration that draws inspiration from the museum’s permanent exhibits and archival materials, capturing a nostalgic yet vibrant tone. Using accurate measurements of the space, I developed a detailed composition that tells a cohesive visual story. Though this was a mock project, it allowed me to explore public-facing design, conduct historical research, and develop a unique visual language that brings local history to life in an engaging and accessible way.
